Manufacturer's Marks

Most moon and star glass pieces do not have any manufacturer's marks. This can sometimes make it difficult to know the manufacturer. However, a few pieces do have marks. L. G. Wright glass marked a few of their pieces with an underlined 'W' enclosed in a circle. This is often confused for a Westmorland's mark which is similar except the 'W' is not underlined. A few pieces in the mid 1980s made by L. E. Smith were marked with a large 'S'. At closer examination, you will notice in the top curve of the 'S' the letter 'G' appears and a 'C' appears in the lower curve represent Smith Glass Company. Pieces currently made by Weishar currently have the 'Weishar' signature. Some earlier miniature water sets have the outline of West Virginia with a 'W' in the middle. Also, some have 'Weishar' in block letters.
