2002 Moon and Star Show Cave City, Kentucky
Jeanne and I made it to the 2002 Moon and Star Glass Show in Cave City, Kentucky. I got to meet with many of the Society members and members of the Moon and Star Glass group on Yahoo. It was nice to be able to put faces with the names of the group. I also got to meet and talk with George Breeze the author of the "Mysteries of The Moon and Star" book, which I, of course, bought. I was amazed at how many people from the Kansas City area were at the show. I met people who knew one of my best friends and even my mother.
There were many tables with nothing but Moon and Star glass. I was just amazed at seeing all this Moon and Star glass under one roof. I checked out all of the tables several times throughout the day, to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Besides, the tables, they had a silent auction, where people could put items up for sale. Then bidders would come by and write down what they would pay for the item. I got a mixed decanter set in this manner. It was a lot of fun.
The dinner for the Society members later was held later that evening. Jeanne and I had a wonderful time. I talked with a couple that live in my area, that have been collecting for years. I have just recently started collecting gemstones, and it turns out that he has been doing that for years. I am looking forward to seeing both collections. The food, which was plain down home cooking, was excellent.
I am looking forward to next year’s convention. I understand that next years show will be near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I am looking forward to it. I hope all that attended this year’s convention had as great a time as I did. If you have not attended one of these annual events, I would certainly suggest that you do.
I would suggest that you also, join the Society of Moon and Star Pattern Glass. The information you receive in the newsletter and friends you will make are worth the price.
